The Steps of God’s Economy

Human Living

In Christ, God not only became a genuine man, but He also lived the human life. For 33 1/2 years, He experienced every human suffering. Thus, He is able to fully sympathize with us and to be touched with the feeling of our weaknesses (Hebrews 4:15).

More importantly, in Christ’s human living He also expressed God’s rich attributes through His aromatic human virtues. God is infinitely bountiful, possessing many wonderful attributes such as love, light, holiness, and righteousness. These attributes, though marvelous, were largely hidden from man. But through Christ’s human virtues manifested in His perfect human living, these divine attributes were fully revealed and expressed. Moreover, the Gospels testify that these virtues were irresistibly fragrant, aromatic, and captivating. For example, when the Lord Jesus called Peter, James, and John by the Sea of Galilee, they immediately left everything and followed Him (Matthew 4:18-22). There was something so attractive and charming about Him that they willingly forsook everything to follow Him. This mystical expression of God within humanity is the intrinsic significance of Christ’s human living.
