The Way of God’s Economy—the Dispensing of the Divine Trinity

The Divine Trinity for the Divine Dispensing

From the Father—the Source God the Father is the origination of the divine dispensing. He is the unique source in the universe. However, God is invisible; no man has ever seen Him (John 1:18; 1 Timothy 6:16). Furthermore, God dwells in unapproachable light; no man can approach Him (1 Timothy 6:16). How then can such an invisible and unapproachable God dispense Himself into man? If He were only the Father, the divine dispensing would remain an impossibility, and His heart’s desire to gain an expression of Himself through man would be unattainable.

In the Son—the Course God, however, is not only the Father. Through the incarnation of Christ, the Father has embodied Himself in the Son. All the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Christ the Son bodily (Colossians 2:9). In Him, the invisible God is expressed (Colossians 1:15), and the unapproachable Father has become approachable (John 1:14; Mark 10:14-16). Through His incarnation, death, resurrection, and ascension, the Son joined the human race, bridged the gap between God and man, redeemed man back to God, and opened the way for God to dispense Himself into us.

Through the Spirit—the Transmission Although the Father and the Son are wonderful, they have no way to enter into man. Thus, there is the need for the Trinity to take a second step. All that is in the Father has been incarnated in the Son and through the death and resurrection of Christ, both the Father and the Son are now in the Spirit (John 16:13-15). Hence, the Son is the embodiment of the Father, and the Spirit is the realization of the Son (John 14:17; 1 John 5:6).

Without the Father, there would be no source. Without the Son, there would be no way, no channel for God as the source to reach man. Without the Spirit, there would be no transmission of God into man. But now, as the Spirit, the Triune God can freely impart, or dispense Himself into man’s spirit, thus fulfilling His eternal intention.
